BNSF Railway
BNSF Railway, previously known as Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, is one of the largest freight rail transportation companies in North America. Founded in 1995 through the merger of Burlington Northern and Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway, BNSF operates more than 32,500 route miles of track throughout 28 states and two Canadian provinces with subsidiaries in Mexico. Serving some of the largest cities on both sides of the United States-Mexico border, BNSF also has a presence around many major ports that allow for movement of goods internationally by rail. With headquarters located in Fort Worth Texas, BNSF employs over 40,000 people across its operations and manages an active fleet totaling roughly 3500 locomotives. Additionally, they own or operate several intermodal terminals which facilitates containers being transported between trains and ships or other modes of transport.
