Weyerhaeuser Co is an American real estate investment trust and forest products company founded in 1900 by Frederick Weyerhaeuser. The company was established to acquire and manage vast tracts of timberland and later expanded into the production of wood-based building materials, such as lumber, plywood and more. As one of the world’s largest private owners of timberlands, Weyerhaeuser owns or controls approximately 13 million acres (or over 20 thousand km2) around the globe. With headquarters located in Federal Way, Washington State, the company also operates pulp mills and manufacturing facilities throughout North America. In addition to being a major supplier of wood products for construction uses, Weyerhaeuser has diversified its interests into land development businesses ranging from housing to office buildings as well as leasing properties that include shopping centers across 27 states in North America.
