Salesforce is an American cloud-based software company that provides customer relationship management (CRM) services, application development platforms and artificial intelligence solutions. The company was founded by Marc Benioff, Parker Harris, Dave Moellenhoff and Frank Dominguez in 1999 in San Francisco, California. Salesforce’s early CRM product was made available over the Internet as software as a service (SaaS). Since then, it has grown to become one of the largest enterprise cloud computing companies in the world with revenues exceeding $17 billion in 2019. It offers a range of products, including Commerce Cloud for e-commerce operations; Service Cloud for customer service; Marketing Cloud for marketing automation; Analytics Cloud for data analytics; Financial Services Cloud for banking operations; and Platform Services such as AppExchange. In recent years, it has been investing heavily in research and development (R&D) to innovate AI technologies such as Machine Learning algorithms, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Voice assistants etc providing solutions across multiple domains such as healthcare, finance services and retail areas.
