McLane Company
McLane Company is one of the largest supply chain services companies in the United States, operating both nationally and internationally. Founded in 1894 by current Chairman and CEO Robert D. McLane, it began as a horse-drawn grocery delivery service in Cameron, Texas that serviced general stores and mom and pop stores in the area. In 1930, McLane began to expand into a wholesale distribution business with 24 warehouses nationwide serving over 20,000 retail stores throughout the US by 1979. As technology advanced, so did their capabilities: they developed new software and hardware systems to expand their services beyond traditional wholesale distribution into logistics management and foodservice distribution while continuing to offer top rates customer service options like same-day shipping. When Amazon acquired Whole Foods Markets in 2017, McLane leveraged its expertise to quickly become a key player in providing infrastructure solutions for Amazon’s network of brick-and-mortar stores. Today McLane has expanded far beyond its founding roots, now employing more than 20 thousand people worldwide across 90 divisions offering dynamic solutions for customers’ logistics needs through warehousing/distribution centers servicing nearly 50 states as well as Canada, Mexico, Australia and Japan.
