Kimberly-Clark
Kimberly-Clark is one of the largest global personal care and consumer tissue companies in the world. Founded in 1872 by John A. Kimberly, Havilah Babcock, Charles B. Clark, and Franklyn C. Shattuck in Neenah, Wisconsin they began as a paper mill that focused on producing newsprint (then known as ‘soft-paper’). In 1888 it merged with another Milwaukee based soft-paper business owned by Edward Blair, then changed its name to Kimberly & Clark Co., selling their products under the brand name Kleenex which is now a trademark for facial tissues globally. Throughout the 1900s the company continued to grow and expand their product range from infant diapers to adult incontinence products and even feminine hygiene products such as tampons and sanitary napkins all made from absorbent cotton fibers or processed wood pulp, eventually becoming an international corporation with operations all over the globe including China, India, Australia and The United Kingdom. As of 2021 they employ over 38000 people worldwide with reported revenue of US$19 billion at end of 2019 fiscal year.
