Cabela's Incorporated is an American direct marketer and specialty retailer of hunting, fishing, camping, and related outdoor recreation merchandise. Founded in 1961 Richard N. Cabela and Jim Cabela as a family-run mail order business, its first retail location opened in Sidney, Nebraska in the same year. Over the years Cabela's has grown to become one of the most recognizable names in outdoor recreation merchandise with over 80 stores nationwide including flagship locations in Wheeling West Virginia & Hamburg Pennsylvania. In 2017 the company was acquired by Bass Pro Shops for 5.5 billion dollars. The combined Cabela’s/Bass Pro Shops entity ranked #45 on Forbes Top 500 list for 2018 demonstrating Cabela’s continued success as one of America’s leading outdoor retailers.
