Ascena Retail Group
Ascena Retail Group Inc is a specialty retailer offering apparel, shoes, and accessories for women, tweens, teens and girls. It was founded in 1962 as Dress Barn by Roslyn Jaffe. The company initially operated out of a single location under the name dressbarn in Windsor Heights, IA. Over the years it expanded rapidly by opening stores throughout the Midwest, gradually becoming a nationwide brand with more than 2,700 locations across over 48 states. In 2008, Ascena Retail Group Inc was formed when Dressbarn was merged with two other specialty retail companies, Maurices and Justice. Later they added plus-size fashion retailer Lane Bryant to their portfolio following its acquisition in 2012 In 2015 Ascena purchased the Ann Taylor clothing chain which added an additional 2000 stores to their business operations. Nowadays Ascena serves customers through five different brands: Ann Taylor; LOFT; Lane Bryant; Maurices;and Justice while also operating international e-commerce websites for each of its subsidiaries including Canada, UK and Japan.
