Allegheny Health Network
Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is a Pittsburgh-based, health care organization comprised of 8 hospitals, 2 long term-care facilities and more than 200 clinical sites. AHN was first established in 1999 as Allegheny University Hospitals, created by the merger of Five Pennslyvania hospital systems: Shadyside Hospital, Passavant Hospital, Forbes Health System, Allegheny Valley Hospital and Western Pennsylvania Healthcare System. In 2013, Highmark Inc. purchased West Penn Allegheny Health System to become part of its integrated delivery network under the name Allegheny Health Network. In 2014 Highmark expanded it’s coverage reach into West Virgina with the addition of 5 affiliated hospitals that are now known as AHN Wetzel County Hospital and 4 additional healthcare locations in West Virginia. Over the past decade AHN has grown significantly due to its continuous commitment to providing high quality patient-centered care close to home for all their patients through its membership in Integrated Care Delivery Systems (ICDS).
