United Supermarkets, LLC is a Texas-based regional grocery store chain, with over 90 locations in operation throughout the state. The company was established in 1916, by the United family in Sayre, Oklahoma. For several decades it was a single-store operation that served customers within its local community. In 1946 the first two additional stores were opened in Lubbock and Plainview. By 1967 there were 12 stores and the business expanded to Amarillo and Wichita Falls markets by 1985. The 1990s saw the company enter into larger markets such as Austin and San Antonio, doubling the number of locations to 24. Since then United had continually expanded its operations which now includes more than 95 stores across 30 cities throughout Texas under five different banners including United Supermarkets, Market Street Grocery Stores, Amigos supermarkets and Albertsons Markets brands. Today United prides itself on its strong commitment to providing excellent customer service backed by high quality products at competitive prices as well as supporting its surrounding communities through charitable donations and sponsorships of important causes.
