The Nemours Foundation
The Nemours Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide world-class healthcare to children through research, education, and advocacy. Established in 1936 by Alfred I. du Pont, the foundation was initially focused on preserving the Nemours Estate near Wilmington, Delaware as well as establishing an orphanage for the care of disadvantaged children in his native state. From those beginnings, The Nemours Foundation has grown into an organization supporting 35 health centers across five states and Washington D.C., providing care for more than one million children annually. Through its onsite clinics and offsite outreach programs, The Nemours Foundation provides excellent clinical care that is informed by cutting-edge research from their research centers located at institutions such as Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA; Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore; Cambridge University in England; and the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. In addition to providing medical services to children throughout the United States, The Nemours Foundation also works to advance overall pediatric health by conducting billions of dollars’ worth of research dedicated to creating treatments and cures for diseases affecting young people all over the country.
