The Devereux Foundation, Inc.
The Devereux Foundation, Inc. is a private nonprofit behavioral healthcare organization that provides services and support for individuals with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and behavioral struggles throughout the United States, Ireland, Canada and England. Founded in 1912 by Helena T. de Wolfe (later known as Helena Devereux), the foundation originally provided only educational instruction to children with learning disabilities. In 1940s Dr. Sophie Friedenwald-Fish developed the first residential program for individuals with intellectual disability as part of The Devereux Foundation at Devon Farm near Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Since then they have grown to provide comprehensive medical treatments and advanced clinical therapies that are tailored to individual needs in schools, outpatient centers, residential centers and homes across the country. They employ over 7500 staff members who are dedicated to providing high quality care through innovative interventions drawn from the latest research.
