State Employees Credit Union
State Employees Credit Union (SECU) is a non-profit cooperative financial institution owned and operated by its members. SECU was established in 1937 as the State of North Carolina Employees' Credit Union with just eight members, primarily state employees. It has since grown to become North Carolina's largest credit union with more than 2.5 million members and over 290 branches throughout the state. As of today, SECU provides financial services including checking accounts, savings accounts, online banking, loan products such as auto loans, mortgages and personal loans, investments opportunities and other financial assistance programs to help their members build secure financial futures. From its humble beginnings to one of the nation’s leading credit unions, SECU has never wavered from its mission: To “provide a safe place for members savings; be available for economic well-being; to provide convenience in access to needed services at competitive rates; and promote understanding of responsible saving methods."
