Roundys Supermarkets, Inc.
Roundys Supermarkets, Inc. is a leading regional supermarket chain operating 149 stores and employing approximately 17,000 associates in the Midwest. It was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1872 by a German immigrant named Judson Roundy who opened his first store under the name W.M. Roundy & Co., later called The Monarch Food Stores after expanding its offerings to include meats and other food items. In 1989, Roundys merged with Pick n’ Save which expanded their presence into Minnesota and Michigan and made them one of the largest chains in the Midwest at that time. Over subsequent years, pick n’ Save transitioned to become part of the Roundy's brand before being sold off completely in 2015 when Kroger completed its purchase of the company for $800 million dollars thereby making it part of what would become one of the largest U.S grocers (Kroger Co.). Today, Roundys continues to operate under Kroger ownership providing customers access to everyday low prices through their network of supermarkets offering fresh produce, quality meat, deli items, prepared foods and groceries across multiple states including Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota
