Princess Cruise Lines, Ltd., is a leading global cruise line currently operating a fleet of 17 luxury ships renowned for innovative design and wide array of choices in dining, entertainment and amenities. Founded in 1965, the company has become one of the highest-rated premium cruise lines in the world. It was originally started by Stanley McDonald and it operated the smaller car ferries “Princess Patricia” and “Princess Alice” between Los Angeles and Vancouver. In 1970, Princess Cruises began operating its first large ship, Pacific Princess, which was featured on TV's "Love Boat." The following year it acquired Island cruises before establishing itself as an independent company under P&O Princess Cruises in 2000.
