NBCUniversal LLC is an American media and entertainment conglomerate owned by Comcast. Its global headquarters are located in New York City, though it operates studios, offices, and other facilities across the United States and around the world. The company was founded in 2004 through a merger between NBC and Vivendi Universal Entertainment (VUE). Since then, NBCUniversal has acquired several other companies to expand its portfolio of media offerings. These acquisitions include cable networks such as USA Network and Syfy; the online streaming service FandangoNOW; DreamWorks Animation; UK-based broadcaster Sky plc; and several more film studio subsidiaries including Focus Features, DreamWorks Pictures, Illumination Entertainment, Amblin Partners and Working Title Films. As one of the largest media conglomerates in the world with numerous assets that span across television, film production & distribution, news & information systems, direct-to-consumer platforms & services among others -- NBCUniversal continues to be a powerhouse within its industry today.
