Maimonides Medical Center
Maimonides Medical Center is a non-profit, acute care teaching hospital located in the Borough Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. Founded by Rabbi Jacob Joseph in 1911 as the United Hospital and Dispensary of Borough Park, it has been dedicated to providing quality healthcare services with a special focus on Jewish patients and their religious needs for more than 100 years. The hospital has grown exponentially since then and has enriched its service offerings from medical and surgical treatment to research and community outreach programs over the course of its history. In 1972, the hospital was renamed Maimonides Medical Center in homage to Moses Maimonides (Rambam), one of the most noted Jewish physicians of all time. Today, it is considered one of New York's leading academic healthcare centers offering an array of clinical services ranging from primary care to complex tertiary medicine. It serves approximately 55,000 inpatients each year at its multiple locations throughout Brooklyn.
