Golub Corporation is a privately held company founded in the 1932 by brothers William and Bernard Golub. It began as a small, family-owned business operating out of the brothers’ hometown of Schenectady, New York before eventually expanding to become one of the largest retail food companies in the United States. The company operates more than 1,000 supermarkets and convenience stores in over 30 states throughout the Northeast and Midwest regions. In addition to its supermarket chains – including Price Chopper/Market 32 and Market Basket – Golub also owns several other brands such as Cub Foods, County Market and Shurfine. In recent years, it has diversified its operations to include an online delivery service called Peapod Digital Labs; a loyalty rewards program named AdvantEdge; financial services through Financial Edge; home delivery options for pharmacy products; and a variety of health & wellness initiatives that promote healthier lifestyles for customers.
