Giant Food Stores
Giant Food Stores is an American supermarket chain that has been in business since 1923. Founded by David Javitch, the store was originally named Carlisle Food Market, and operated from a single location in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In 1936, it changed its name to GIANT Food Stores after acquiring stores in Maryland and Virginia. GIANT now operates 156 locations in four U.S. states – Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia – with more than 31,000 associates employed across all locations. As one of the largest grocery store chains on the East Coast of the United States and with a robust online presence through its website giantsupermarkets.com, GIANT offers a wide variety of products including fresh produce, seafood, pantry goods and pharmacy services throughout its family of stores which also includes Martin's Food Markets and Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC stores located in New York City area markets such as Long Island and New Jersey.
