Drexel University
Drexel University is a private research university located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1891 by philanthropist and financier Anthony J. Drexel, it was originally the Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry. The first true college classes began in 1914 and the school eventually changed its name to Drexel Institute of Technology before being granted university status in 1970. Today, it is ranked among the top national universities according to U.S. News & World Report and is known for its strong co-op education program that allows students to apply academic learning to real world experience through internships with over 1,700 employers nationwide.
