Chugach Alaska Corporation
Chugach Alaska Corporation (CAC) is a regional Native corporation owned by Alaska Natives and formed in 1972 under the provisions of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. CAC protects and enhances the interests of its tribal members, their descendants and shareholders throughout the Chugach region of Southcentral Alaska. With headquarters in Anchorage, it is one of nearly 200 ANCSA corporations incorporated for economic development since passage of the landmark legislation that settled land claims between Alaska Natives and U.S. Government. Today, CAC has grown to become one of the leading private employers in Southcentral with more than 3,000 employees providing skills and services from construction to hospitality to government contracting to natural resource development on behalf of its 2,200 shareholders and affiliates from 11 tribes or cultures within 32 villages located on thousands of acres around Prince William Sound area extending south to Lake Clark Pass. CAC's other businesses include real estate management; investments; training programs for shareholder development; building construction; oil & gas production; fishing & seafood processing; mining ventures as well as hospitality tourism through campgrounds at Bear Paw Campground near Whittier, Resurrection Campground near Seward, Tutka Bay Lodge on Kachemak Bay plus Paradise Cove Resort at Port Graham.
