Chg Companies, Inc. (formerly known as Change Healthcare) is a publicly traded healthcare technology and services company that operates in the United States. Founded in 1979 as MED2DATA by Therus C. Kolff, the firm grew rapidly during the late 1990s to become one of the nation's largest providers of health care cost-containment solutions to employers, third party administrators and government programs. In 2004, Change Healthcare was acquired by Emdeon Corporation and became part of their Payment Services division. In 2010 Emdeon spun off its payment services business as Chg Companies, Inc., which began trading on Nasdaq under the symbol CHNG. Today, Chg Companies’ products and services span a wide range of industries including clinical informatics, medical transcription, claims processing, software analytics for payers and providers, data warehousing for quality improvement purposes, population health management solutions for payers and providers alike as well as other innovative technology solutions designed to reduce administrative costs in healthcare settings while enhancing patient security through sophisticated reimbursement models.
