C&J Energy Services (NexTier) is an energy services company based in Houston, Texas that was formed when C&J Energy and Keane Group merged in 2019. C&J Energy was founded by Paul Coleman and Hugh Ostertag in 1997 as a pressure pumping services provider innovating hydraulic fracturing technology to incorporate the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. The company expanded to become a premier well construction service provider offering hydraulic fracturing, coiled tubing, cementing, wireline logging and snubbing/e-coil services for oil and gas production companies. Keane on the other hand was established in 2011 as a multi-service fluid logistics provider with proppant distribution abilities. After their merger in 2019 they became NexTier Oilfield Solutions which provides integrated products from casing running tools to specialized completion systems in over 24 countries throughout North America, South America Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific region.
