BNP Paribas S.A is a multinational banking and financial services group based in Paris, France. It was formed through the combination of Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) and Paribas in 2000. BNP was originally founded in 1848 by Napoleon III, while Paribas was established in 1872 by a group of investors who wanted to revive an existing trading business that had been started 40 years earlier.
