Barrett Business Services Inc. (BBSI) is a publically-traded staffing, human resources, and risk management solutions provider offering services to businesses in the United States since 1951. Founded by Nancy Barrett, BBSI was initially established as an insurance agency providing workers’ compensation insurance programs in Washington State. As their customer base grew and new products were developed, BBSI became more diversified; today they specialize in areas such as payroll processing, employee benefits administration, risk management services for small businesses, and professional employer organization (PEO) services that provide employers with bundled HR solutions. BBSI serves over 3,700 client companies located primarily on the West Coast of the United States and has contracts with many large national healthcare providers that offer PEO services nationwide through them. Their results are reported quarterly in accordance to SEC regulations and they have been included on several indexes including S&P 600 SmallCap Index since 2016. In 2020 they celebrated their 58th anniversary as one of the largest professional employment organizations focusing on small business markets throughout the Pacific Northwest region of The United States.
