Baker Hughes, a GE company, is an international provider of integrated oilfield products, services and digital solutions. Founded in 1907 as the Production Tool Company by Walter Benona Sharp and Captain Hugh Bakers in Houston, Texas with help from investors George E. Thomas and C.N. Davidson, Baker Hughes has grown to become one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the energy industry. The company specializes in reservoir characterization, drilling, production, completion technologies and subsea systems that serve customers on land and offshore. Throughout its history of over a hundred years Baker Hughes has executed more than 400 acquisitions to supplement organic growth strategies including major ones such as BJ Services Co., Varco International Inc., Hydril Pressure Control Inc., WesternGeco LLC, W-H Energy Services Inc., among others. In 2018 it was acquired by General Electric (GE) to form GE Oil & Gas; however the brand remains quite popular due to its long-standing reputation globally for providing quality service to customers across all sectors in oilfields and other industries alike.
