Activision Publishing, Inc. is a video game holding company and one of the world’s leading interactive entertainment publishers. It was founded in 1979 by former Atari employees David Crane, Larry Kaplan, Alan Miller and Bob Whitehead. During its first years in business it published several notable popular titles such as Pitfall!, Kaboom!, Commando and River Raid. By 1991 Activision had become the top-selling third-party video game publisher on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and remained at the top of console gaming until 2002. Since then they have successfully branched out into other products such as mobile games, toys and action figures based on their properties, with their franchises appearing across multiple gaming platforms including computers, consoles, handhelds and mobile devices. As of 2019 Activision continues to create award-winning games for both current generation gaming systems as well as create remastered versions of classic titles such as Crash Bandicoot™ N Sane Trilogy for modern players to enjoy.
