Zf North America, Inc.
ZF North America, Inc. is a subsidiary of ZF Friedrichshafen AG. It manufactures automotive industry parts and driveline components as well as commercial vehicle controls solutions in locations throughout North America, including Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Founded in 1915 in Germany by Ferdinand von Zeppelin and Dr. Ferdinand Porsche as an independent drive technology company called "Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen", the company played an important role during the country's reconstruction following World War I and became a world leader in industrial manufacturing during subsequent decades. After opening facilities across Europe in the 1950s, ZF opened its first North American location in 1977 (in South Carolina) to produce axle drives for light commercial vehicles; this was followed by many more facilities worldwide. Today, ZF North America provides products such as transmission systems, axles, steering systems, dampers/struts assemblies and other related parts to automakers around the globe with more than 20 production sites located throughout Canada, Mexico and the US. Committed to safe production practices with a focus on reducing its environmental footprint through sustainable product design and energy efficiency measures—as well as promoting advanced mobility solutions—the company continues to be one of the leading suppliers for modern vehicles worldwide.
