William Marsh Rice University
William Marsh Rice University (Rice) is a private research university located in Houston, Texas. It was established in 1912, following the death of its namesake William Marsh Rice, who had bequeathed his fortune “to establish and endow a liberal institution of learning.” The mission of the university is to provide an educational experience that makes students learn to think critically across a broad range of disciplines while developing great depth and expertise in an academic area of their choice. Over its history, Rice has developed into one of the top institutions for higher education and is currently ranked 17th among all national universities by U.S. News & World Report.
