Founded in 2009 by Garrett Camp, Travis Kalanick, and Oscar Salazar, Uber was initially founded as “UberCab” but later rebranded to become the current name. The company is based in San Francisco and operates in more than 900 metropolitan areas worldwide with over 110 million users of its app-based service. In 2018, Uber reported a net income of $997 million dollars on total revenues of $11.3 billion dollars. With a market cap of approximately 71 billion dollars at the close of 2019, it is one of the largest technology companies in the world. Over 2 million drivers are employed by Uber providing rides or delivering food across 633 cities worldwide, making it one of the most popular on-demand transportation and food delivery apps available today.
