Trinity Industries Inc is a diversified industrial company headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The company provides products and services to the energy, chemical, agriculture, transportation, and construction sectors. Founded in 1933 as Steel Car Corporation by W.H Goldsmith Jr., Trinity Industries began primarily as a manufacturer of steel railway hopper cars. After evolving their product offering throughout the 60s and 70s into railcar leasing and tank car components, they eventually expanded their capabilities to include highway products for the construction industry such as guard rails in 1985. Since then they have gone on to manufacture goods for other markets both domestically and internationally including barges through their Marine Transportation Systems business unit in 1997 followed by wind towers after acquiring DOT Wind Towers in 2008. They continue evolve despite their 85 year history with record revenues of 2 billion dollars reported over the course of 2018 alone indicating continued proof that Trinity Industries remains a success story among its diversified American made industries
