Tribune Media Co
Tribune Media Co is a media conglomerate that was originally founded in 1847 by James Kelly and Joseph Medill. It started out as the Chicago Tribune newspaper and has since grown to include television, radio, and digital outlets worldwide. The company became publicly traded on the NASDAQ stock market in 2000. Its holdings as of 2020 own a variety of stations throughout the United States covering 42 markets. It also operates WGN America network, one of the country's oldest television networks, which was launched in 1948. In addition to its broadcast affiliates, Tribune Media Co also owns cable networks including Antenna TV and ThisTV Network along with WGN Radio 720AM. It recently completed its merger agreement with Nexstar Media Group Inc., creating the nation’s largest regional broadcasting group while providing broader content access to viewers across all major platforms.
