The Wounded Warrior Project
The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2003 by John Melia to provide services and programs for injured service members of the U.S. Military following the events of 9/11. WWP supports warriors through physical health and wellness, financial assistance, career counseling, mentorship opportunities, and many other services—all designed to help veterans transition back into civilian life during their recovery process after suffering physical or emotional trauma due to military service. WWP works with both individuals and organizations nationwide to create an environment where injured veterans can live their lives confidently and proudly as civilians. Since its inception in 2003, WWP has provided more than one million hours of support to wounded warriors, enabling them to receive free medical care and employment opportunities while transitioning home from deployment abroad.
