The Hackensack University Medical Center
The Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) is a not-for-profit, teaching and research facility located in the city of Hackensack, New Jersey. Founded in 1888 as the Bergen County Hospital by visionary business and civic leaders who had an eye to improving healthcare services for all citizens, HUMC quickly established itself as a leader in medical science. As the years progressed and technology advanced, HUMC grew its presence in Northern New Jersey while expanding its capabilities across multiple disciplines including surgery, oncology, fertility care, women's health services, psychiatric care among many other areas of specialty. It was also at this time that HUMC became an integral part of Rutgers University’s biomedical and health sciences division with both entities having significant partnerships spanning over two decades leading up to today. In recent times HUMS has become one of the most renowned medical institutions throughout NJ offering a vast range of cutting-edge treatments due to continued investments into innovation regarding patient care and technological advancements within their campus.
