The George Washington University
The George Washington University is a private research university located in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1821 as Columbian College, it was renamed The George Washington University in 1904 to honor the first U.S. President and Founding Father, George Washington. Today, GW is one of the largest universities in the United States with an enrollment of over 26,000 students from all 50 states and more than 130 countries around the world. It offers degree programs at its Foggy Bottom Campus (main campus), Mount Vernon Campus (graduate school of education and human development), Virginia Science & Technology Campus (comprised of graduate schools located on two campuses in Ashburn and Arlington) and online through its School of Professional Studies. Its offerings include more 200 different majors spanning 17 schools and colleges across 10 academic departments such as Business, Law, Medicine & Health Sciences and Engineering & Applied Sciences among others.
