Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is a publicly traded information technology and professional services company based in Reston, Virginia. With annual revenues of nearly $8 billion, SAIC provides services including enterprise IT, cybersecurity, engineering and analytics to clients across the public sector and commercial markets. Founded as a private company in 1969 as Science Applications Inc., it was established by Dr. J. Robert Beyster to provide technical consulting support primarily to defense-related programs at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory. In 2006, Science Applications Inc. merged with Leidos Corp., formerly known as Science Applications International Corp., creating one of the world's largest employee-owned defense contractors – now known simply as SAIC again – with more than 23,000 employees worldwide operating across 200 locations in over 30 countries around the globe.
