Ruan Incorporated is a transportation management company that specializes in dedicated contract carriage, asset-based trucking and warehouse services. It was founded in 1932 by John Ruan Sr., who had purchased a three-car garage to get his business started. Originally called the Ruan Motor Carriers Co., it grew slowly at first but eventually built fleets of both trucks and drivers throughout the Midwest region of the United States by 1950. By 1990, Ruan was among the largest carriers in North America with over 4,200 power units and 10,500 trailers worldwide. Today it operates more than 5,000 vehicles across its network of approximately 500 locations spanning 48 states as well as Mexico and Canada. The company also provides supply chain management solutions including warehousing distribution services through its subsidiary, Xtreme CARGO Solutions LLC.
