Rock Holdings Inc. is a private holding company based in Detroit, Michigan. Established in 1998 by Dan Gilbert, the company’s portfolio is composed of multiple affiliated businesses, including mortgage lender and servicer Quicken Loans, real estate investment firm Rock Ventures LLC, personal finance platform RocketLoans and online retail marketplace Bedrock. The companies which make up the Rock Holdings family employ around 17,000 people across locations in United States and Canada. Within two decades of its establishment, Rock Holdings reached scale through strategic investments and acquisitions in a wide variety of sectors such as financial services (Quicken Loans), real estate development (Bedrock Real Estate Services LLC) and technology (StockX). While providing growth opportunities to existing businesses under the company umbrella, it also notably expanded into new markets such as health care IT consulting services with the 2011 acquisition of Farmington Hills-based JLB & Associates.
