Penn National Gaming
Penn National Gaming, Inc., founded in 1972, is a leading regional gaming operator based in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Through its fully owned subsidiaries and affiliates, Penn National operates 41 properties across 19 states including casinos and racetracks as well as online gaming operations. Initially starting with a single racetrack located in Pennsylvania, The Penn National Race Course (later renamed Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course), the company has since acquired multiple pari-mutuel wagering facilities throughout the US and developed strategic partnerships to expand their services beyond horse racing. In 1995, Penn National began expanding into the casino business with acquisitions of two Hollywood Casinos located in Missouri and Mississippi before ultimately transitioning to real estate investment trusts (REITs) during 2013-14 which allowed them to purchase more than double their existing properties enabling them greater access to the North American gaming market. Since then they have become one of the leading players in both physical and digital gaming space earning an average of $3 billion revenue each year while continuing expansion into other markets such as sports betting through partnerships across various states.
