Palmetto Health
Palmetto Health Matching is a non-profit organization that seeks to improve healthcare access in South Carolina. Established in 1998, it was the first health matching program in the state, and has since grown to include over 70 partner organizations across 10 counties in South Carolina. Palmetto Health Matching’s mission is to connect financially disadvantaged people with needed medical services, including preventive care, specialty care, mental health services and dental care. The organization also offers financial literacy training programs for adults and children alike, which provide valuable information about budgeting and making healthy choices for oneself or one's family. Since its inception Palmetto Health Matching has helped nearly 2 million individuals access quality healthcare services that they otherwise may not have been able to afford. Through grants from local foundations such as the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina, funding from National Institute of Health (NIH) initiatives like Affordable Care Act (ACA), generous donations from private individuals, and with their recent partnership with BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina
