Pacificorp
Pacificorp is an energy holding company with operations located in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. It was founded in 1910 by the merger of five electric utilities that operated mostly on the West Coast. Over the next 77 years Pacificorp's customer base grew to over 1 million customers throughout its service area, which covers an estimated 11 million people. The company now operates 18 thermoelectric power plants and providing services such as hydroelectric generation, natural gas midstream,, wind power capacity through its PacifiCorp Wind assets and solar photovoltaic capacity through Rocky Mountain Power’s Solar Initiative. In recent years Pacificorp has diversified further from just energy production into other areas such as telecommunications services after acquiring Qwest Corporation in 2011. In 2013 it merged with Mid-American Energy creating one of the largest providers of electricity and natural gas throughout the western US states. This acquisition also saw billion dollar investments made for environmental protection efforts including clean air regulatory compliance costs and renewable resources development programs helping reduce carbon emissions from coal fired generating units across some 13 states
