Nabors Industries Inc. is an American-controlled, publicly traded oil and gas drilling company based in Houston, Texas. Founded in 1972 as Anglo Energy Ltd., Nabors has grown to become one of the world’s largest land-based drilling contractors and one of the largest providers of offshore platform rigs in the world. It currently operates a fleet of over 400 land rigs worldwide, as well as over 80 offshore platform rigs, including jackups and drillships. Nabors also provides directional drilling services using its own proprietary technology known as ‘horizontal drilling’ which enables it to drill efficiently at much greater depths than conventional methods allow. In addition to its core business activities, Nabors also manufactures and markets oilfield machinery, equipment rental services and software applications for energy industry operations. Since 2000, Nabors has acquired several companies related to its core activities including Weatherford International Ltd., Superior Well Services Inc., GlobalSantaFe Corporation (renamed Transocean Drilling) and Hercules Offshore Inc.; resulting in significant growth across all areas of activity. The most recent acquisition was TulsaDrillers LLC in March 2016; adding approximately 137 high-performance land rigs to its existing fleet.
