Motorola Solutions is an American technology company publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: MSI). Founded in 1928 by brothers Paul and Joseph Galvin, Motorola was initially known as The Galvin Manufacturing Corporation. Through innovation, their initial product was a battery eliminator that enabled consumers to operate AC appliances with DC batteries. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, they introduced several products such as car radios for automobiles and walkie-talkies for business communication. In 1947, the company officially changed its name to “Motorola” and continued to innovate in many area such as two-way radio communications and cellular mobile phones. By 2011 Motorola split into two companies – Motorola Mobility focused on consumer electronics and Motorola Solutions focused on government & public safety, network infrastructure, professional services & technologies. Nowadays Motorola Solutions provides mission critical communication solutions that help customers improve safety, security, efficiency for businesses all over the world including public safety departments of governments around the globe.
