Loyola University Of Chicago
Loyola University of Chicago is a private research institution located in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1870 by members of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) as St. Ignatius College, it was one of the first universities founded with an explicit mission as a medium for educating its students based on Catholic principles. In 1909, the school was renamed Loyola University and moved to its current location at 6525 North Sheridan Road in Chicago. The university has since grown to include 10 colleges and schools offering over 80 undergraduate majors ranging from accounting to visual communication design and spanning several other disciplines including communications, business administration, engineering, humanities & sciences and law. It offers over 50 master’s degree programs plus doctoral degrees over numerous fields such as psychology, computer science, bioethics and public policy. Through its active endeavors for community service with banks such as Habitat for Humanity; non-profit organizations; international outreach opportunities; service trips around the world—students have opportunities to make an impact both on campus and beyond their gates throughout all four years while also learning about social justice issues countrywide or abroad.
