The Louisiana Children's Medical Center (LCMC) was established in 1998 to provide medical and healthcare services for children across the state of Louisiana. LCMC is a level one Low Risk Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (LRNICU), a Level II High Risk Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (HRNICU), a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level III Trauma Center that serves as the only pediatric trauma care center in New Orleans. Offering advanced, family-centered care, they also offer primary care services that include acute sick visits, chronic disease management, preventive exams and well-child checkups. It also has an outreach program including family support groups, health fairs and counseling referrals. In addition, it maintains several medically specialized clinics such as orthopedic surgery, asthma/allergy treatment center, ophthalmology clinic and cleft palate intervention programs. They have grown to become an important resource for providing comprehensive medical treatments to families throughout Louisiana with their array of specialists physicians on staff who are experienced in caring for both pediatric and adolescent patients from infants through 18 years old.
