Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Inc.
Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Inc. is a not-for-profit healthcare system located in Lakeland, Florida. Founded in 1971 as the first hospital in Polk County, LRMC is now the largest medical center between Tampa and Orlando with over 700 beds and 2,000 affiliated physicians serving ten counties across Central Florida. The hospital offers a full range of services from cancer care to pediatrics, comprehensive stroke care and heart surgery programs. Additional facilities operated by LRMC include the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Center, 9 freestanding Emergency Centers throughout Central Florida as well as two urgent care locations for non-emergencies. In 2013, the hospital was named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades—a distinction they have held since 2009—and also achieved recognition for outstanding clinical outcomes from Truven Health Analytics. As part of its commitment to providing quality patient care that goes beyond traditional medicine, LRMC provides outpatient rehabilitation centers throughout three counties in addition to extensive community outreach programs like their “Healthy Kids Initiative” which focuses on preventing childhood obesity and diabetes through education and exercise programs.
