Foster Poultry Farms is a family-owned business that has been in operation since 1939. Founded by Max and Verda Foster, the company began with two chicken houses located in Modesto, California. Over the years, it has grown to include processing plants and feed mills throughout the state of California. Today, Foster is one of the largest poultry producers in North America and employs over 3,000 people. Its products are distributed nationally for both retail sale and commercial foodservice. In addition to its fresh poultry products, the company produces frozen seasoned entrees and specialty items such as turkey breast burgers and nuggets made from dark meat chicken. As part of its mission to ensure good animal welfare practices, Foster maintains an Animal Care Program certifying humane treatment of poultry during every step of production.
