Follett Higher Education Group, Inc. is an American higher education services and retail company which began in 1873 with the opening of a single bookstore at 'Old Main', the main building of the newly established University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 1920, Charles M. Follett purchased the business, which was one of the first college bookstores to carry textbooks, study aids and other reference material. Today Follett Higher Education Group operates more than 1,200 stores on college and university campuses across North America and provides digital course materials through its RedShelf platform as well as providing text rental programs to students and faculty members. The company also offers wholesale distribution services for academic publishers.
