Evergy, Inc. is a leading energy company in the Midwest of the United States and provides electricity and natural gas services to residential customers as well as businesses across 1.6 million square miles of Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Formerly known as Westar Energy, Evergy was created on June 28th 2018 through the merger between Westar Energy and KCP&L (Kansas City Power & Light). This merger made Evergy one of nation’s largest investor-owned utilities with assets of over $15 billion dollars. The company has since been investing heavily into renewable resources such as wind farms located in both Missouri and Kansas while continuing its commitment to providing cost-effective service throughout all communities it serves. It has also become active within local economies by investing millions into economic development projects which have included infrastructure developments in schools, parks, roads, sewers and water lines; along with partnering with other companies to create jobs in their service areas for thousands of people annually.
