Deaconess Health System
Deaconess Health System is a not-for-profit healthcare system serving the Greater Tri-State area of Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois. The company was founded in 1896 as Deaconess Hospital by Reverend Matthew W. Baldwin and Sarah C. Wildey. It has grown to include nine hospitals across three states, more than 90 physician practices, seven outpatient health centers and five freestanding surgery centers as well as other clinical services including home care, imaging services, sleep labs/durable medical equipment and numerous other types of rehabilitation services. More recently they opened The Edge PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) in 2020 following the construction of a new Emergency Department in 2019 which offers board certified emergency medicine physicians with extensive experience in adult critical care emergencies and includes 28 patient beds plus a dedicated trauma room for pediatric patients. Deaconess Health System remains deeply committed to caring for their communities both through providing exceptional care but also by participating in philanthropic activities such as sponsoring sporting events for youth organizations or supporting local school systems.
