Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. (DFA) is a national dairy cooperative that was founded in 1998 to help independently owned and operated dairy farms in the United States. It is owned by and works on behalf of nearly 14,000 member farms throughout the US; these farmers own approximately 75% of the milk supply in this country. DFA provides members with marketing services including price discovery, risk management tools, public relations support and educational programs. It also assists its members with their farm operations through nutrition service, animal health products and other agricultural services and supplies. Additionally, DFA produces high-quality food ingredients for commercial customers that generate revenue for its members from more than 50 plants located across the US. In 2018 DFA reported reaching record adjustments to its producer owners totaling nearly $182 million USD which represented a 24 percent increase from 2017 totals
